Commerce For Change is Unveiled to Create Jobs and Stimulate the Global Economy
Denver, CO (PRWEB) March 4, 2008 -- Commerce For Change (www.commerceforchange.org) is today unveiled to change the world. Commerce For Change is an organization of businesses, governments, and institutions that work together to create jobs for remote teleservices and call center workers in areas that are disadvantaged, remote, emerging from conflict, or recovering from disaster.
In addition to job creation, enabling remote workers benefits the environment by reducing carbon emissions as commuting needs are minimized.
TouchStar founded Commerce For Change to create positive change and to inspire other businesses to create change in the communities where they do business. TouchStar has committed to donate virtual call center technology to enable new domestic and international projects.
The American Teleservices Association (ATA) is announced as the first institutional contributor to Commerce For Change. The American Teleservices Association is encouraging thousands of call centers and businesses to provide remote worker opportunities for American communities in need.
Global businesses, governments, and institutions are invited to review Commerce For Change's five initial projects to discover how they can contribute. The five initial projects include: USA Rural Community Job Development, USA Disaster Displaced Worker Virtual Call Center, USA Green Line, Call Center Supporting Mexican Businesses in The State of Chihuahua Mexico, and the Tourism Call Center for the People of Palestine and Israel. Projects are listed at: www.commerceforchange.org/review-projects.htm.
Contribution requests from businesses, governments, and institutions include providing remote worker job opportunities as well as products and services such as: computers, headsets, network equipment, internet access lines, offices, furniture, micro lending, security, and travel credits.
Businesses, governments, and institutions are also invited to submit requests for help with their existing projects from the Commerce For Change community. Commerceforchange.org includes a form for submitting help for projects that have positive economic or environmental impacts.
TouchStar's CEO, Steve Bederman remarked, "TouchStar is not only interested in providing world class communications technology, but we also recognize the potential our products have to improve the lives of all people both domestically and internationally. TouchStar technology has enabled domestic and international middle class job creation, increased communications among diverse people, and helped to integrate supply chains that stabilize international relationships. We believe that commerce and communications are the most powerful elements of positive change in the world today. Conflict is certainly not the answer to our global challenges."
TouchStar's global director of marketing, Brian Smits, commented, "Through our experience of enabling businesses and call centers around the world with remote worker technology, we gained a vision for creating a tremendous amount of positive change if more businesses and governments enabled remote workers. Remote office and at-home job opportunities can create immediate positive opportunities for economic, social, and environmental change. There are domestic and international communities that need help right now. Through Commerce For Change, TouchStar will inspire and lead the business community to work together to create tangible changes this year."
Tim Searcy, CEO of the American Teleservices Association, is a strong supporter of Commerce For Change. Tim added, "Remote teleservices have a tremendous positive impact on the environment because carbon emissions from commuting can be minimized. Urban sprawl is also minimized when people are empowered with job opportunities in their own communities. From a social perspective, remote workers gain the ability to stay in their communities and spend more time with their families. Businesses also benefit through increased retention and access to highly skilled employees that are willing to work remotely due to the flexibility. The ATA will be encouraging our members to increase the number of remote workers they employ when possible. We will ask them to hire in areas of the United States that have economic needs. Commerce For Change is helping us identify communities that need support from the teleservices industry and we are happy to help."
Commerce For Change invites all businesses, governments, and institutions to review the five initial projects and to submit additional project help requests. Together, we will positively change the world.
