PreVisor’s Pre-employment Assessment Research Recognized at the 2007 Association of Test Publisher’s “Innovations in Testing”
Atlanta, GA (PRWeb) February 7, 2007 -- PreVisor, a leader in pre-employment assessments and employee selection solutions that help employers identify top performers, today announced that Mike Fetzer, Ph.D., VP simulations & skills testing group, and Sara Lambert MA, research scientist, will present recent findings at the 2007 Association of Test Publisher’s conference, Innovations in Testing, being held in Palm Springs, California February 5-7, 2007. The team’s presentation will highlight the benefits and challenges of Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) in personnel selection.
CAT is a method for administering tests that adapt to the examinee's ability level by successively selecting questions that maximize the precision of the exam based on what is known about the examinee’s knowledge. For example, if a candidate performs well on an item of intermediate difficulty, he or she will then be presented with a more difficult question. Or, if a question is answered incorrectly, he or she would be presented with an easier question. Compared to tests with static questions, computer-adaptive tests require fewer questions to accurately assess a candidate’s knowledge or skill.
“Since 1998, PreVisor, a pioneer in the field, has delivered millions of adaptive tests for use as pre-employment evaluations and certification assessments. Today, as the field of pre-employment testing and assessment further embraces technology, the methods used to evaluate an applicant’s ability to perform in a job role will incorporate more and more sophisticated components,” says Fetzer.
According to Noel Sitzmann, CEO of PreVisor, “This outstanding research and development work is the foundation on which PreVisor is building its “next generation” of adaptive testing capabilities. Recognition by the Association of Test Publishers is further testament to the industry thought leadership of PreVisor’s team of industrial-organizational scientists in the field of pre-employment test development.” Sitzmann adds, “PreVisor’s new CAT technology will provide the most valid and predictive measure of a candidate’s skills available on the market and afford our clients unique benefits, including the ability to deliver assessments in an unproctored environment with greater security while more precisely measuring a candidate’s skill set in a shorter period of time.”
